British Touring Car Championship

Le Mans for the Sega Dreamcast

Although racing games have influenced me over the many years I have played them, one game on the Sega Dreamcast will always been looked upon with fond memories.

I still own this game, albeit not the same original copy I had, but I always crack a smile when I blast down the mulsanne straight in a Lancia LC - 2. Other racing games have left a bigger impression on me, but looking back to when I would complete a full 24 hour race on this game I would  experience going through dusk, the fireworks at night time, and dawn. It gave a feeling what it is like to be there. Le Mans this year then?

When Rallying was Rallying!

This video makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck, especially the instantly recognisable theme music. Being a 6 year old boy at the time, I still remember my dad waking me up earlier and us heading off to stages like Clumber Park and Chatsworth to witness Celica's, Escort Cosworth's, Subura Impreza's and many more being driven to the absolute limit by the worlds finest.

This video shows what rallying in the UK was like when I was a child. I still look at these videos and think that this is when rallying was 'proper'. Not just in Wales, all of the UK was used. No trick computers and diffs. Just a nightly rally report of BBC 2, and the fact I will ALWAYS call it the LOMBARD RAC Rally. Enjoy,

1980 - The Forgotten RS

I sometimes wonder what the Escort RS1700T would have been like. Before the thoughts of four wheel drive becoming a success, the fwd MK3 Escort had a development programme to tranform it into a 350 bhp BDA powered RWD rally stage hero.

Like the days of the MK1 and MK2, this was the next part of the evolution. Sadly, it never took off, due to a manor of problems, but like the Lancia 037, the roots of the great group B era can be seen in this car. Still.....its replacement wasn't too shabby at all......

I've found myself lusting after one for a while now. If I had the money, and I wasn't obsessed with the Roadster, I would do awful things in life to get one of these!

BTCC - Silverstone - 1992

I was 5 when this race took place. It goes to show what real racing is all about. Even now at the age of 23, I'm still on the edge of my seat everytime I watch this.
